We are a VOSA/DVSA-approved MOT Testing station in Willington, Co. Durham. We can test class 4, 5 and 7 vehicles. This covers everything from small cars, such as a Suzuki Alto, to much larger vehicles, such as Mercedes Sprinter Van.
What Is MOT?
Ministry of Transport tests (or MOTs for short) are a legal requirement. An MOT tests your vehicle for road-worthiness, safety and exhaust emissions. The MOT test is compulsory for vehicles over three years old in Britain. Without a valid MOT, you cannot tax your car, and you are not insured.
Once a year, you must by law, take your vehicle to an accredited MOT station for it to be tested to be roadworthy and safe for you, other road users, and the environment.
MOT Testing at Boam Automotive Engineering Ltd
For maximum efficiency, our newly built workshop has been designed and fitted to meet all automotive requirements. Since an MOT usually takes less than an hour, you can wait for your vehicle in our comfortable waiting area.
During an MOT, a qualified technician will check your vehicle to ensure that it is roadworthy and safe. We will check everything, from lights and tyres, to seat belts, to steering and suspension. The checks we carry out will highlight anything that is, or could become, a safety issue. You are then issued an MOT certificate (VT20) stating that your car is roadworthy and has passed its MOT. If your car does not pass its MOT, we will issue the appropriate documentation and advise you as to what you need to do next (VT30 and VT32).
Are You Likely to Forget When Your MOT Is Due?
If you are not sure when your MOT is due, or you are likely to forget when the time comes, please contact us with your vehicle’s registration number and we will find out for you. We will let you know in advance when your MOT is due and remind you each year when the time comes. It’s one less thing for you to have to remember. If you would like us to take care of this for you book your appointment today.
An MOT doesn’t cover the servicing of your vehicle. A service includes checking your vehicle’s oil quality, filter age and capabilities. A service should also be carried out once a year. You can find out more about this on our vehicle servicing page.
Remember that keeping your vehicle in a safe condition is a legal requirement. Call us now to talk about an MOT for your vehicle, or send us an email. We aim to make the process as hassle-free as possible for you.
